Dress Dilemma

I have a bit of a dilemma. I've been trying to find a dress for Krystle & Gerard's up coming wedding. Having gone to a few different dress shops and finding some beautiful gowns my decision is no less easy. It probably doesn't help that I do not like shopping and have an even harder time making decisions. I'm sure that must come as a great shock ~ a women who doesn't like to shop. I even dislike grocery shopping, waiting as along possible before I go and then trying to coerce anyone I can to come with me.

But back to my dress dilemma, thankfully I've still got a few months, (119 days to be exact) till it's needed. Mind you I won't wait quite that long. ^.^

Grad Girl

Krystle had her grad photos taken last week. Unfortunately due to copyright I am unable to post any photos but feel free to check them out at andrewgoodwinphotography and follow these steps on the left side - Grads Click Here - Password: education - Heritage Album - Krystle G ~ my favourite is #6, 10, 14, 22, 35, 59 & 69, yeah I found it hard to narrow it down. Let me know which one you liked.

It's hard to believe that her 4 years at Heritage are coming to an end this April; and that she will be graduating with a Bachelors of Religious Education: Professional in Human Services. I am so proud of her and her many accomplishments. The graduation ceremony is on May 1st; I'll be the proud momma in the front row with tears in her eyes.

Bridal Show

The Welcome Wagon of South Huron hosted a Bridal Show at the South Huron Rec Centre last night. Krystle, Gerard, Mary Ellen (Gerard's mom) and I went to get more ideas and information about all the different vendors and their products that can help us with planning and finalizing details about their upcoming wedding.

There were great door prizes and free give-aways from each vendor, making it a fun evening. It was great to re-connect with some of the vendors that are going to be a part of Krystle & Gerard's wedding day. I also met others that we've only been in e-mail contact with. Overall it wa a great night and it gets us super excited as the big day approaches.

Back home

We made it back home safe and sound at 3:30am this morning. We quickly jumped into our own bed and slept till almost noon. Then the fun began as I unpacked everything and started the laundry, the house cleaning, and catching up with everyone. I must admit the boys are getting better at being home alone, the house was in pretty good shape. I even asked Krystle what it was like when she got got home and she too said it was pretty tidy. hurray! i must be rubbing off on them
Soon I'll upload my photos and post more about our trip, right now though, I'm still trying to get my land legs and have the rooms stop tilting. We did have a great time with Dwayne & Claudia and I'm glad we tried a cruise, but I'm ever so thankful to be home.

We're on our way.....

We're super excited as we're on our way to our first ever cruise vacation. We're traveling with friends and so looking forward to spending time together.

Our boys will be on their own at home, but I'm not worried, well not too worried, after all they are grown boys. I've left enough food to feed an army (and no Kyle that doesn't mean your hoodlum friends (wink) can come over).

gotta go, more about our trip when we return

Inspiration

Wikipedia describes a Random Act of Kindness as " a selfless act performed by a person or persons either spontaneous or planned in advance; wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier. Yesterday, I was given this bunch a gorgeous flowers from a sweet, dear, soul. Ironically, it was just the day I needed them too. I have been feeling a little unappreciated and wondering if what I did even mattered. And lo, and behold here comes Gail with a bouquet of flowers, a huge hug and kind words to spur me on. Bless you Gail.

She's inspired me to pay it forward, after all, who doesn't need little encouragement.

Superbowl XLIV

Kyle returned home late last night after spending an awesome weekend in Miami, FL. With Ice Cultures, he was able to go to Superbowl XLIV and watch 'his' team the Indianapolis Colts take on the New Orleans' Saints.

Back stage access
My Kyle wearing his Dwight Freeney jersey
The elaborate ice bar that Ice Cultures made
Spike's team
The stadium before the game
The coin toss
And kick-off
What a great opportunity this was for Kyle.

...and so it continues

My follow-up appointment with Dr. Snider was today. Things are..... well, not a whole lot different. Dr. Snider however, was not discouraged. He reminded me that the symptoms did not happen overnight and therefore will not go away that quickly. So I continue without dairy, eggs, nuts & sugar in my diet, he also suggested I remove MSG. I continue to take a few homeopathic meds, like B12 & B6 and a few others to help me get back on track.

About the only plus to this is the fact that I have lost 11 pounds.....WAHOO! I know many people will say I did not need to lose any weight, but I obviously I did, or the weight wouldn't have come off.

Hopefully as I become more adjusted to this way of life, it'll get easier.

Papa's birthday

We celebrated Papa's (my dad) birthday today. It was wonderful that the whole family was gathered together to honour this day for dad.

My dad was born February 7, 1942, to Roy & Marie Kaufman. He was blessed to have one younger brother, my Uncle Graham and for some reason (unknown to me) we called him Uncle Pudge. ^.^

It was decided that the family would all go to a Swiss Chalet for lunch and then back to the house where we've always celebrated birthdays with angel food cake, strawberries and ice cream. Today was no different. How does one sum up their dad, or what do you say in a blog that will post a tribute to the man that helped conceive me, raise me and essentially helped to make me who I am today. Dad & I have always connected. As a young girl, I have many fond memories of Saturday mornings with my Dad. Whether we were baking (yes baking) or I was with him in his fuel truck as co-pilot. It didn't matter what we did, I always knew that when we were/are together, I felt/feel important.

I am blessed.

Time

Seconds add up to minutes that add up to hours that grow into days, then weeks, followed by months turning into years. There's nothing we can do to stop the forward motion of time and we can't go back in time like Marty McFly of "Back to the Future" and change anything. We only get one chance at life.
Time, time who's got the time. Sometimes I feel like the white rabbit in Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland, running around yelling "I'm late, I'm late, for a very important date, no time to say good-bye, hello, I'm late, I'm late, I'm late."

The band Alabama sings "i'm in a hurry to get things done, (oh,) i rush & rush until life's no fun, all i really gotta do is live & die, but, i'm in a hurry & don't know why."

Ever felt like that? That feeling of always running behind, and in a hurry to rush to the next thing, not enjoying what it is that you're doing now. Why is it that we have such great difficulty s-l-o-w-i-n-g down?

Time is a precious commodity. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, but it's what we do with our time that determines what's important to us.

To be rather than to do.....
