Leap Day

February 29, it seems like I should be writing something profound this being a special day and all. However the longer I sit here, the longer I come up with......... nothing.

Krystle decided to come home for the weekend. She needed a quiet place to rest & refresh and where else to have a quiet weekend than out here on the farm. And of course that means Gerard is here as well.

It's wonderful to have the house full with 4 teenagers (well almost, Krys is 20). And of course, they play Rock Band, which is an absolute blast. I even get in on the fun once in a while.

With Krystle usually at school and when Kyle is away on a job set-up and Darcy was working it was just Wayne & I. I mean I know that that stage of life (empty nest) is coming, but I am in no rush to have it happen. I can wait a few more years. Most people you talk to are usually wishing for that 'next' stage of life. Not me, not this time anyway. I am really enjoying this stage of life with respect to my kids, my husband and even where I am.
Life is good.

Le Chef

Darcy's first job at The Little Inn of Bayfield was as a dishwasher. He eventually was promoted to prep-chef. This is the uniform he wears.

I went a little early on Sunday night to pick Darcy up from work, so I could get a couple pictures of him. Here he is pretending to cut up a tomato.

A closer photo.

It's been a good experience for him to be working, unfortunately he has decided to quit as it was becoming more and more busy at the Inn and since Darcy is still in school full-time he wasn't wanting to work weekends full-time. I don't blame him, afterall he has his whole life to work. You're only young once, might as well enjoy it. He does plan to find another job, he's just going to take a bit of a break.

Darcy has also decided to continue with highschool for another year the 'victory lap' as it's called. He hasn't decided on where he wants to attend post-secondary or what he really wants to do for the reat of his life. So I guess it's good to take another year to figure it out.

Volleyball

Wayne & Kyle have been playing volleyball in the Men's League in Zurich on Wednesdays for the past couple of years. It's wonderful for them to have some father/son time together each week. The whole male bonding thing.
This year they've started to play in Goderich at the 'Y' on Mondays, plus they play in Exeter on Tuesdays. Yes that's right they play 3 mights a week.

Wayne also tries to find time to play Badminton with Darcy, maybe not weekly but often.
Most weeks I don't mind that they are gone so often, I then get to have quiet nights at home to curl up with a good book or watch a movie.

Wayne, Kyle & Krystle were in a volleyball tournament a couple weeks ago. The others on the team were our neices Marcia & Linette Melick & Rich Gingerich (a friend).
They had a lot of fun, played 15 games on Saturday and won every game but one and ended up the "A" consolation winners.
Wayne has always enjoyed sports. As long as I've known him, he's been involved in one sport or another. So I think it's pretty cool that he is able to spend time with his kids in this way.

RAK'd

Wikipedia describes a Random Act of Kindness as:
a purportedly selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile, or be happier.

I was RAK'd ~~ and just when I needed it most. I went into the office one day a couple of weeks ago and there sitting on my desk were these beautiful daisies, with a small note that said 'thank you for all you do!' I was overwhelmed with emotion.

Such a simple gift, and yet, worth so much to me.
Sometimes I am guilty of not listening to that little voice prompting me. In fact one time I argued with it for a few days, and when I finally did listen and follow through, I was glad, because I later found out what a blessing it was.

How about you? Do you find yourself so caught with life, that you sometimes forget those around you who could use a little cheering up?
When was the last time you were RAK'd or better yet, when was the last time you RAK'd somebody? A little love goes along way. Seems simple. Spread it around.

Winter Sunset

There's something about winter, with fresh fallen snow covering the ground, it seems like it's a different world.

Even though Autumn would be my favoutrite season, I do enjoy the beauty in winter. Tonight we are experiencing a winter snowstorm. I am very thankful to be in my warm house, sitting here with a nice hot cuppa tea. I am also thankful that I do not have anywhere I need to get to and can just stay put.

Since Darcy works in Bayfield at The Little Inn, I've been driving him into town and taking Dolly with me to enjoy my winter walks within the towns limits. It definitely beats walking out here in the country, during the winter season. I really like having the buildings protect me from the wind and I enjoy looking at all the different houses.

I would like it even more if I could see the inside of some the houses. One of my many past-times is looking at floor plans of different houses. I collect the ones from the paper that I like, for that "someday" when we move. Not that that's going to happen anytime soon, but it never hurts to dream. I must have passed this on to Krystle too, cause when I was at her place a couple weeknds ago, she has a whole book of different floor plans. LOL

My friend Ruth thinks I should try for my real estate license since I have this house looking fettish. ^.^
It might be something to consider in the future, but right now, I have enough on my plate.

Here is another beautiful winter picture.

Enjoy!
