Best Friend

Wikipedia describes a best friend as: someone with whom one shares the strongest possible kind of friendship.

Friendship is unconditional loyalty and love. A bond of steadfastness and acceptance that allows us to be who we are, fully, without fear that love will be withdrawn.

German Shepherds can make loyal and loving pets inside the home. The breed has a personality marked by direct, fearless willingness to protect what it considers its "den" (i.e. house, car, and property in a home situation) and "pack" (i.e. human family in a home situation).

Dolly (German shepherd/husky mix) joined our family in 1998 as a puppy. Shortly after joining us on the farm, Dolly earned her way into our hearts by saving our lives when in a matter of moments our dairy barn was engulfed in flames one hot night in July. Since Dolly was put to bed each night in the barn, it was her barking that woke us up and we called the fire department before we lost the house & machine shed. The cattle were out of the barn since it was summer time, but unfortunately we did lose the barn.

Dolly has also become my faithful walking partner, always willing to walk when I want and if I am too tired some night she is willing to just sit by my side, until the next time.
I believe that true friends will welcome each other's company and no matter how much time has passed are willing to set everything aside and share in the time that's given.

Can you be best friends with a dog? According to the description of wikipedia I think so.

Blessings
