Moving On

It was one of those bittersweet days yesterday. When Wayne & I and Gerard moved Krystle from her summer dorm to her dorm room for the school year.

We left early Sunday morning to head to Cambridge as we needed to pack up all her belongings and move them. Krystle came home for the weekend and was unable to get anything packed before she left. It only took us two hours to pack up all her stuff and get it moved into her new room. We didn't bother to unpack it all as she wanted to take her time figuring it out as to how it will all fit. This was a nice twist to our afternoon as it gave us time to just hang out together.

This is her 3rd year at Heritage and this year she is the Senior Residents Assistant for the girls dorm.
way to go Kryssi!

So, this week she is attending the R.A. training week, next week all the other students move in and before you know it another school year has started.

Weekend get-a-way

I spent last weekend having a wonderful get-a-way at Heritage in dorm with Krystle. She decided this summer to stay in Cambridge and work at Imagine Adoption.
Here is her room for the summer.

Krystle's been able to come home a few weekends out of each month and I enjoy our girl time at home, but this time I needed to get away.

We started our weekend by inviting my sister Becky to join us at Starbucks and we enjoyed a venti tazo chai tea latte and of course we chatted it up.

Two hours later we thought it was time for supper, so we headed off to East side Mario's and had dinner and much more conversation. Krystle showed her apartment to Aunt Becky and we chatted some more until 11:00 pm, when Becky decided it was time to head home.

Saturday morning was so relaxing, it was wonderful. We walked to the library, spent some time looking around and finally ended up borrowing a video to watch for our late night that was to come. We took time to get caught up on our reading.

Bought lunch at the Grub Pub and purchased a slice of Reece Peanut Butter Cake sprinkled with Reece's Pieces. It was delicious!

I had time to get my nails done. good job Krystle

We played games, read our books, went for an evening walk (to pick up supplies for the movie) and of course we talked and talked......

I had such a wonderful time with Krystle. Even though she is becoming an independent young woman with her own place, job and life away from me, it was wonderful to spend time together and have the opportunity to chat about this, that, and of course the other thing.

I am so thankful that Krystle & I have become friends. My daughter is one of the many joys in my life.

? ? ?

I haven't written anything in quite a while..... I seem to be in a bit of a funk with what to write. So, do I blog just for the sake of blogging? or do I wait until something exciting happens then blog about it?

We live a pretty normal life around here, whatever "normal" is.
Wikipedia says "normal refers to a lack of significant deviation from the average."
Life is a difficult thing to understand. Go to school, get a job, buy goods, raise a family, die. To step outside of that norm is to confront the armies of civilization. A few times in my life I have stepped outside of that norm and have had confrontations with people who want it protected. As I grew in age and maturity I realized that what I think and what the norm is, have gradually become the same thing. My future is as uncertain as any one's. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I am so thankful that God has his hand on my life and that He knows the plans He has for me and while I may not know what the future holds, I do know the One who holds my future.

So we continue on this journey of life, raising our family, going to work, cooking, cleaning, yard work and on it goes, hoping each day to make a difference not only in our own lives but in the lives of those around us.

So............ those are my thoughts, what are yours?
